Living in Spain, vol. 2 – Martin Lang
We are officially moving next month. That’s right. Andrea’s new job position is more than 45 minutes of car drive away and to commute this far every day was just too exhausting of an idea for us.
We have been fortunate enough though to find a lovely apartment no more than 8 kilometres away from her work. We are therefore moving from hot, sunny, ancient town of Alcaniz into equally ancient, slightly more touristic, smaller, and undeniably beautiful town of Beceite. We both love the region around Beceite and have been here on small trips several times, however because we are moving there, we thought it might be a good idea to explore the surroundings a little bit more. Beceite is such a charming little place with small cafes, traditional restaurants and crystal-clear water streams, flowing around the town, that it deserves a separate blog chapter.
For now, I will focus on its pristine natural environment instead. We decided to visit one of the many natural pools of Beceite. We left our car slightly outside the town and just after 2 kilometers of walking, we had arrived at the first natural pool. These pools are simply wonderful. They form a natural part of the river, which then continues around Beceite, and one can simply visit and take a dip or dive into any one of them. The water is gorgeously blue and refreshing, wildlife around is thriving, plenty of greenery going on, … you get the picture. In fact, here is the actual picture.
We had visited more than three pools, however there were at least 2 more along the path. Some pools might be busier than others – depending on the time of the day – however, there was always a quiet spot for us to find. The area is well taken care of while keeping it as natural as possible. In addition, people are not garbage-leaving assholes and that is also a good sign for me in general when I think about living in the area. We had a great time here and to show you the place not just through pictures, we have prepared for you this little video clip. Hope you enjoy guys, and I will see you next time!
